penny pinching md

My ex boss is a very well known dermatologist to Manhattan's well off. She had kind of a rock star's status with her patients who would gush to us medical assistants about how great she was... meanwhile...
she was so cheap she:

-would charge for collagen injections by the syringe full, but there was always some left at the end of the procedure so she would have us save the leftovers. At the end of the day we had to combine them all to scrape to together one last syringe full.

-had her housekeeper take the bus over to our office to pick up the dirty linens to wash and iron them at home rather than use a laundry service.

-had us re-cap USED half-full insulin syringes of botox (recapping is a no no and a risky health hazard)and pull the dirty needle of with pliers so we could put a new needle on - saving the remainder for the next patient.

-discouraged us from using exam gloves - weren't we wasting enough of her money.

If she is still in practice, report her! She is a hazard.

She should be reported to her state board of medicine. You can do this anonymously. She is putting her employees and patients at risk by reusing syringes used on other patients and not allowing you to wear gloves. The practices you describe could transmit HIV, Hepatitis B&C and other blood-borne pathogens to unsuspecting patients!

Report to the newspaper and let the puplic know!

That is frightening! Yes, you need to report her!

If you haven’t heard it enough, I’ll pitch in: THAT WOMAN IS DANGEROUS! Start putting out your resume, file for an investigation. Think about the patients – in silence, there is acceptance.

It is very scary!!!! If only her patients knew the risk they have been put into.

Report this woman NOW, she should not be an MD. And you could be found partly liable for any damages caused to the patients if you know about this and don't act.
