Poor Employee Development

My boss is an expert in his field. He's a dick, but he's an expert dick lol.

No but seriously, in our industry, he knows what he's doing. Well, he always complains and bitches about his field technicians and how incompetent they are. But he never volunteers to go out to the field to help them or monitor them or guide them or train them.

So he threatens termination but never tries to coach his employees. There's NO employee development at all, at anytime. Why not just go out to the field, actually spend the time and visit the technician and coach him thru some things?? Would anyone die? What would it hurt besides my the pride my boss holds onto?

My boss loves to blame people for things. He's the king of the "blame game". If he's in a bad mood he blames it on other people. Example -- "If people would just do as they're told, i wouldn't be so pissed off".

He tries to blame other people for his pissy moods as if he's not in control of his own emotions at all, at anytime. Its so childish.

Once, amid one of his fits of anxious rage, I said, "you know you sure do give everyone lots of control over you by telling us that we put you into your moods-- sure does give us lots of power over you and your moods".

Anyhow the point being from all this, have some pride in your employees and just TRAIN them, coach them and be patient with them. Don't spout off every time they make a mistake. Use it as an opportunity to teach them.
